Keep your powder dry !
A visit to the National Civil War Centre in Newark before the Easter break, gave students the opportunity to further their study of Britain’s deadliest conflict; the English Civil War. For our keen performers, came the opportunity to take on key roles in recreating the events of Charles I’s trial and ultimate gory execution. In the Civil War Galleries, there was an insight into how the people of Newark survived three sieges by the Parliamentarians, the plague and still held out to the bitter end. Finally, 17th century battlefield wounds were analysed on synthetic torsos before timed drill challenges raised competitive spirit between would-be musketeers and pikemen!
